Three Cub Scouts reunited after getting lost in state park
By MARSHA DORGAN, Register Staff Writer
Three Cub Scouts were reunited with their troop after being lost for about an hour and half at Robert Louis Stevenson park in St. Helena.
Other than scared, the boys were just fine, said sheriff's Capt. John Robertson.
The three, boys, 11, 12, and 13, belong to troop #102 from Rohnert Park. They were hiking on Friday afternoon, when the three Scouts became separated.
One of the boys fell off a rock into the creek, and his two friends climbed down to help him out, Robertson said. "This was about 3:30 p.m."
Robertson said the youngsters tried to find their way back to the troop, but became lost. "Their disappearance was reported to us at 4:45 p.m."
The sheriff's county search and rescue unit, along with the California Highway Patrol helicopter -- H30 -- were called to the seen. The chopper spotted the Scouts around 4:50 p.m., landed and loaded the boys into the helicopter.
They were taken to Calistoga and turned over the scoutmaster.
Pair arrested for
alleged assault
A man an woman were arrested on Saturday after a 42-year-old woman accused them of roughing her up.
The ruckus started around 10:30 p.m., in the 2000 block of Capell Valley Road. The victim told sheriff's deputies that Clarence Bradley and Faro Smania pushed her to the ground and kicked her, Capt. John Robertson said. "She said they were mad because they wanted her out of the house."
The woman reported the alleged attack to police from a bar across the street from the residence.
Bradley, 46, of Napa was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence.
Smania, 49, of Utah, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.
The victim did not require hospitalization, Robertson said.
Drug bust
Walter Santa Cruz believes honesty is the best policy.
When deputies pulled Santa Cruz over in the very early morning hours on Saturday for not dimming his headlights, they asked him if had been drinking, Capt. John Robertson said.
"He said no, but said, 'I smoked a little crank earlier,'" Robertson said.
When deputies discovered Santa Cruz was driving with a suspended license, they searched him and his car. They found him to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe, Robertson said.
The car stop happened at Main and Adams streets in St. Helena.
Santa Cruz, 26, was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license and violation of parole.

two in jail
A wrong turn in San Jose ended in trouble for two Oakland men.
Around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, deputies spotted a pickup parked in a red zone in front of a fire hydrant on Charter Oak Avenue in St. Helena.
When they contacted the two men inside, deputies discovered the truck of the pickup was filled with empty glass bottles.
The men admitted they had stolen the bottles from Dumpsters at Upper Valley Disposal Service and were going to sell them, Capt. John Robertson said.
"When we notified Upper Valley Disposal, they wanted the men prosecuted," he said.
Juan Carlos Median, 30, and Carlos Juan Guerrero, 21, both of Oakland were arrested on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property.
"The men told deputies they took a wrong turn in San Jose and wound up in St. Helena," Robertson said.
Business ransacked

The box contained $3, Capt. John Robertson said.
The break in happened sometime over the weekend at the business on Camino Aruga. The thieves forced their way into the business and ransacked the office, Robertson said. In addition to the cash box, the business owners reported tools were also missing, he said.
