In an effort to help guide seniors through the new Medicare prescription drug program, Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, has introduced legislation that would add $100 million to for State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) funding. Known as HICAPs in California, they are federally mandated to provide Medicare beneficiaries with unbiased information about their coverage options.

A strong-arm robbery ended with a 48-year-old Napa man taken into custody Friday night. Napa Police officers arrested Guy Kreig Bartlett on suspicion of armed robbery hours after he robbed another man at an automated-teller machine, Napa Police Sgt. Pat Manzer said.
