In an effort to help guide seniors through the new Medicare prescription drug program, Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, has introduced legislation that would add $100 million to for State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) funding. Known as HICAPs in California, they are federally mandated to provide Medicare beneficiaries with unbiased information about their coverage options.
