If three times is a charm, then a Napa man overdid it when he entered Target on Soscol Avenue Thursday and attempted to steal a car radio, police said.

Napa Police officers took Rogelio Alfonso Aguayo, 22, on suspicion of stealing four car radios from the store. Napa Police Sgt. Tom Pieper said Aguayo began stealing from the store on Tuesday.
Aguayo entered Target on Tuesday about 1 p.m., and stole a car stereo valued at $99. Later that evening, Aguayo went back to the store and stole another car stereo. On the following day, Pieper said Aguayo returned to the store and stole yet another car stereo.

"He was not caught (for the thefts)," Pieper said.
His luck ran out on Thursday when he entered Target and put a car stereo into his pants. Store employees knew of Aguayo's thefts, Pieper said, and detained him as he attempted to walk out with the stereo, which was valued at $129.

"He admitted the theft and most of the thefts were on video," Pieper said.
Pieper said Aguayo was on probation at the time of his arrest.

Battery, vandalism arrest

Breaking up is hard to do, and for a Napa man it was a ticket to jail.

Napa Police officers arrested Francisco Rodrigues, 26, on suspicion of battery, vandalism and tampering with a phone line. Rodrigues and his girlfriend were arguing at her Pine Street home Wednesday.

"The girlfriend wanted to end the relationship," Napa Police Sgt. Tom Pieper said. "The suspect wrestled the victim onto her bed and during the scuffle, she was hit in the mouth, causing her lips to bleed. But it doesn't sound like the cops were called at the time."

Then on the following day Rodrigues and his girlfriend began arguing again, Pieper said. Rodrigues stepped out of the house momentarily and his girlfriend closed and locked the door behind him.

"The suspect then kicked in the front door breaking the doorjamb and when the victim attempted to call police he pulled the phone out (of the wall)," Pieper said.

Police were later called and took Rodrigues into custody.

Racially-motivated attack

Napa Police officers are looking for the person responsible for a racially-motivated attack at USA Gas Station at the corner of Pueblo and Jefferson streets Saturday.

At 10:25 p.m., a white male walked into the store and began yelling racially-disparaging remarks toward Hispanics at the store's customers, Napa Police Sgt. Tom Pieper said. He then walked farther into the store and grabbed a couple of beers and took them to the female cashier.

He yelled profanities at the cashier and threw a beer at her and when a male customer confronted the suspect a fight began, Pieper said, which spilled outside of the gas station.

"The white male picked up a squeegee and whacked the guy with it and may have kicked him," Pieper said. "Another car had stopped in front of the store there and the suspect broke out one of the windows with his fist and for some reason tore out the guy's license plate."

A white female who was parked nearby came and got the suspect and they both drove away, Pieper said.

"The guy that got kicked and beaten with the squeegee left and he's nowhere to be found," he said. "But the guy that had the windshield broken ... stuck around."

Witnesses managed to get the license plate of the car the suspect fled in and an investigation is ongoing, Pieper said. Anyone with information about this individual is asked to contact the Napa Police Department at 253-4451.

Drug busts

Napa Special Investigation Bureau agents netted almost two pounds of methamphetamine from a Vallejo home Wednesday. Agents took Scott Lowe, 46, of Vallejo, into custody on suspicion of possession of meth for sale.

Earlier this month, agents determined that Lowe was selling meth in Napa and Solano counties, according to a NSIB press release.

The investigation led agents to Lowe's home on the 130 block of Roney Avenue and with the help of Vallejo Police Department Street Crimes and Narcotics Units, NSIB agents executed a search warrant at the home.

At 4:30 p.m., agents took Lowe into custody in front of his home. During the search of Lowe and his home, agents discovered almost two pounds of meth, $3,308 in cash and several pounds of cutting agent, the release said.

Vallejo Police took Lowe to jail and booked him on the drug charge. Estimated wholesale value of the drug is over $19,000, at $650 an ounce. The seized meth had an estimated retail value of $50,000 at $60 a gram, and would have provided 8,400 doses.

In a separate incident, American Canyon officers arrested Richard Hernandez, 43, of American Canyon, on suspicion of DUI, possession of methamphetamine, transportation of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

Hernandez ran a stop sign on Danrose Drive, American Canyon Police Sgt. Mike Hunter said. Officers pulled him over and discovered Hernandez was driving with a suspended license. Hernandez consented to a search, Hunter said, and the search yielded a small amount of meth along with a glass smoking pipe. Hunter said that Hernandez was also under the influence of the illegal drug at the time of his arrest.

DUI, warrants arrest

Napa County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Napa man with several outstanding warrants for his arrest Thursday after stopping him for DUI.

Roberto Montoya Rodriguez, 29, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.

Rodriguez was driving a 1986 Chevrolet utility truck and was stopped at the intersection of Coombs and Fourth streets. Deputies stopped him and discovered he was driving with a suspended license and was DUI, Napa Sheriff's Lt. John Robertson said.

This wasn't Rodriguez's first run-in with the law, Robertson said. At the time of his arrest he had arrest warrants for DUI, driving with a suspended license, domestic violence, battery and violation of probation.
