First Christian School
open house

First Christian School is pleased to announce the addition of a seventh-grade class to the school starting in August 2006. The school is hosting a community open house on Tuesday, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All classrooms will be open and children are welcome. The open house will include a presentation by the administrator and an opportunity to meet with teachers. Materials for open enrollment will be available for kindergarten through seventh-grade. ParentsCAN offers IEP Workshop

ParentsCAN will present the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Clinic, a small group workshop for parents interested in finding out more about the Special Education Process. For those families whose child is already in Special Education, bring your current Individual Education Plan. The clinic will be held on Feb. 14 at noon.

A more intensive IEP training in Spanish will be held on Feb. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Calistoga.

Parenting classes

Requests for high school open enrollment may be made through Feb. 17. To enroll a student in a school other than the school of residence, parents must complete an open enrollment application at the middle school where the student currently attends. Community Smoking Cessation Project

People who smoke and are ready to stop are urged to call the Community Smoking Cessation Project at 261-6771 now to enroll in one of the eight-session smoking cessation classes. Queen of the Valley will hold the following classes and support groups in February for those with diabetes.

Free and reduced

price meals

Application forms are being distributed to all households with a letter informing them of the availability of free and reduced price meals for their children. Applications are also at the principal's office in each school. Applications may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program officials./Register

Napa Valley Museum's Angel Gala fundraiser

The Napa Valley Museum is hosting our annual Angel Gala fundraiser on Saturday at Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery. We are looking for volunteers to help prior to the event and on the day of the event. Tax help

The Napa Senior Center is offering free, volunteer-run tax preparation counseling service for middle and low-income taxpayers and seniors 60 and older. Administered through the American Association of Retired Persons in cooperation with the IRS. Bring your current tax forms, income and expense forms and last year's tax returns.

The Volunteer Center of Napa Valley is looking for volunteers to help the elderly, disabled and chronically ill. Donate an automobile to Napa Christian school

In 2003, Napa Christian began an auto donation program to assist students with worthy scholarships. These scholarships, combined with a strong work/study program, help reduce the heavy expense of tuition. Donated vehicles can be driven to the campus or, if needed, the school will provide free towing. Napa Christian is a nonprofit school, and donations are tax deductible. The Shower

of Stoles project

The Shower of Stoles Project is an extraordinary collection of over 1,000 liturgical stoles from gay and lesbian people who are active in the life and leadership of their faith community in some way. We will be displaying 100 of the stoles that represent 24 denominations in five countries.

The Napa Housing Authority offers 20-year, 3 percent interest loans for home repairs and improvements to low-income homeowners in the city of Napa.
