On Wine: Gouging at restaurants
Restaurant owners almost universally detest columns like the one you're about to read, but if you are a patron of one of these places (and this applies to about 95 percent of restaurants that carry wine), then you'll agree with me: Restaurant wine prices are far too high.
Web 2.0 is more than just the big guys
Today's column is about the Web 2.0, an era that's just getting fired up. It will be the subject of my talk tomorrow night at the Napa Valley PC Users Group at the Napa Senior Activity Center, 1500 Jefferson St. The meeting starts at 7 p.m., and I'll be on about 8.

A life in the garden
Master Gardeners are required to attend several seminars each year as part of their continuing education. Last July, Napa County Master Gardeners were privileged to have former Master Gardener and author Arlene Bernstein as our speaker.
New Year's resolutions: How about getting organized?
So, just checking in to see how those resolutions are coming along! I'm especially curious about the organizing component to your new year. Sure, the year has just begun and it seems it's starting off with a bang, and I'm therefore concerned that you put good, solid organizing structures in your daily life before your year starts picking up speed.
Crappie time at Clear Lake
We have been waiting for the right time to enjoy the crappie bite at Clear Lake. I received the word right after Christmas and finally took the chance to get up to Clear Lake for a few days. We had a ball. I had some friends join me, and we all caught fish. Everyone came in shifts. We fished all day, friends stayed overnight, and the next day fished with another group from Napa. We stayed at Konocti Resort since the action is on the docks. I brought my boat but never launched it.
