Memories of Dec. 7 still live
The words of Franklin Delano Roosevelt were, "a day that will live in infamy". Infamy resonates in a haunting way: something criminal, brutal and shocking as it is defined. This thread weaves through the memories of many Americans as on December 7, 1941, Sunday morning, Pearl Harbor was attacked. Admiral Yamamoto led the Japanese Combined Fleet and delivered the U.S. Navy its greatest defeat. (We'll conveniently overlook the time kitty shredded the brand-new couch leg and those brand-new, chewed up shoes, courtesy of Oliver). Americans spend millions on their pets this time each year, and there are a lot of fun toys to choose from.

The art of Juan Fuentes
Juan Fuentes calls himself a Chicano, a term not heard as often now as in the 70s when pride in one's Mexican origins was growing into a powerful movement.
Tradition is rich in ritual -- and fun
In Mexico, as soon as December begins, everybody's face has a smile. Something is coming. But what is all this excitement about? What are those children getting ready for? Why are they decorating the streets with strings of paper lanterns, velvet grass, Christmas balls and other ornaments? "Las Posadas" are coming. This tradition starts on Dec. 16 and ends on Dec. 24. But what exactly are these Posadas?
