Lady of America marks first anniversary
A year ago September, Lady of America launched its flagship franchise in Napa under the direction of Laura Dayton, a Napan with a long-list of fitness-firsts.
The national franchise gave her free rein to develop a unique women's only full-fitness facility and she came through with flying colors. Her unique Napa facility is the most successful of any newcomer franchise and the national corporation will be modeling all future franchises off the Napa Lady of America.
What makes it so special? Instructor-led circuits four times a day, 38 aerobic classes per week, affordable child care, a complete day spa, a 10:1 ratio of trainers on the floor at all hours, an interactive diet program, a caring and fun atmosphere, an adolescent obesity coach for children as young as 8 and a fit-teen program where young women workout free all summer.
Lady of America is located in the River Park Shopping Center, 1637 W. Imola Ave.

Dr. Erin Jacobson offers new cataract options
Dr. Erin Jacobson, an ophthalmologist at St. Helena Hospital and at Queen of the Valley is offering a new option with cataract surgery, called ReSTOR IOL.
Instead of inserting a intraocular lens after removing the cataract, he inserts ReSTOR IOL. This is a lens that can not only give you distance vision, but also near vision.
About 88 percent of the patients who received the ReSTOR lens in both eyes achieved distance visual acuity of 20/25 or better and near visual acuity of 20/32 or better.
Medicare pays for the cataract surgery and the patients out of pocket cost for the ReSTOR lens is $1,600 -- $800 for the hospital to cover the cost for the new intraocular lens and $800 for the surgeon.
Dr. Jacobson is also doing CK (Conductive Keratoplasty). This procedure is being done at the Napa office, and reshapes the cornea so that you do not need glasses for near vision. It does not involve laser, but radio waves.
