A vote on the dress code?

Dear editor,

I distinctly remember last year when the St. John's Catholic student government, I among them, proposed reducing restrictions in the dress code on sock length. Only weeks after crafting our new bicameral system, the Student Council unanimously adopted the idea. It then proceeded to our multi-class Senate and passed 15-3. The principal concurred and we are now allowed to wear socks of any length, so long as they are visible.

I hope this can provide some assistance to those parties involved in the present argument at Redwood Middle School.

After all the letters, editorials and other displays of absolute devotion to one side or another, we're going to have to realize that this isn't leading up to a public vote. Perhaps it would be a great educational experience for RMS students to go through an appointed process regarding the dress code instead of watching parents and teachers argue the point in their place.
