Educators collect books for hurricane victims

CommentLocal educators Roberta and Greg Wright have organized a project to replenish books destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. They are inviting the Napa community to be a part of "Project Alexandria." Their goal is to "provide a book and beacon of hope to every person displaced by Hurricane Katrina."
They are currently collecting new and gently used books. Collection boxes are currently located at every public school library, the Napa City-County Libraries, St. Apollinaris Catholic School, Justin-Siena High School, Copperfield's Books, and Napa Book Tree.
They anticipate sending their first shipment of books to the Gulf Coast Region prior to Christmas and would like contributions before Thanksgiving Day. If you have any questions, contact any member of the steering committee. Tax deductible receipts are available on request.

Supporting their efforts are Napa Valley Unified School District Superintendent John Glaser and Napa County Superintendent Barbara Nemko.
