A Napa woman may have suffered a broken arm when her mini-van ran off the road in downtown Napa and plowed into a tree around noon on Tuesday, Napa Police said.

Paramedics had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the roof off the vehicle in order to free the driver, Beverly Ledesma, Napa Police Sgt. Steve LaVoy said.
Ledesma was southbound on Jefferson Street near Sycamore Street when her car ran off the road, LaVoy said. "She doesn't remember what happened. She was alert and conscious at the scene."

She was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital from the accident scene.
Napa stove fire spreads to attic

A Napa family thought the worst was over after they doused a stove fire in their home in the 900 block of Windsor Street on Monday afternoon. But family members had not checked upstairs.
When firefighters arrived, the residents told them the fire was out, Napa Fire Capt. Mike Dombrowski said.

"We took a look inside and found an attic fire. The fire had spread some distance from the stove into the attic. The insulation was smoldering," Dombrowski said. "We were there for more than four hours making sure we got to all of it. That type of insulation can smolder for hours, even days before it ignites an actual fire."

Damage to the home was about $5,000, Dombrowski said.

Car stop ends in DUI arrest

Jose Calderon made a break for freedom Tuesday, but he lost.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police attempted to stop his car in southwest Napa for a traffic violation, Napa Police Sgt. Gil Gallegos said.

The officer chased Calderon's car for about a half-mile before Calderon stopped at Imola Avenue and South Freeway Drive.

At that time, Calderon bolted from the car and took off on foot, Gallegos said. However, he didn't make it very far before he was wrestled to the ground by police, he said.

After a brief struggle, Calderon was handcuffed and taken into custody.

Calderon, 29, of Napa, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.

Vallejo women busted for drugs

Drug agents arrested two Vallejo residents suspected of trafficking methamphetamine in Napa County, according to Napa Special Investigation Bureau Cmdr. Gary Pitkin.

Cecilia Obregon, 26, and Lorraine Arreguin, 18, both of Vallejo, were taken into custody Thursday at the shopping center parking lot at Highway 29 and American Canyon Road.

Agents believe the women were dealing drugs in south Napa County and American Canyon, Pitkin said.

Around 12:30 a.m., Thursday, NSIB agents contacted Obregon and Arreguin inside Obregon's car. Obregon initially gave agents another person's driver's license when asked for identification, Pitkin said.

When officers determined Obregon was on probation in Solano County, they conducted a search and found her to be in possession of one ounce of crystal meth, Pitkin said, adding that a search of her purse turned up another two ounces of the drug.

Agents also found Arreguin to be in possession of one ounce of crystal meth, Pitkin said. Agents also seized a digital scale, packaging and pay-and-owe sheets from Obregon's vehicle, he said.

Obregon was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of meth, conspiracy and false impersonation of another.

Arreguin was arrested on possession and transportation of meth.
